4.04 Asexual and Sexual Reproduction

Wasn't the animal nursery incredible? I don't know about you, but I never get tired of visiting the Animal Pavilion, especially when I know there are new arrivals!

The only problem is that I want to take all those cute babies home with me.

Speaking of babies, let's talk about reproduction; now that's a subject that perks everyone's ears up. Recall that we just saw how the process of meiosis is important in sexual reproduction, and that this type of reproduction is responsible for the great amount of variety we see in any one species.

Also, a while back you had an introduction to asexual reproduction as well. Have you ever wondered why some organism reproduces asexually or sexually, or sometimes even both ways?

Let's investigate!

In this activity you will:

  • research examples of species that utilize asexual or sexual reproduction
  • gain an understanding of the importance of asexual and sexual reproduction
  • compare and contrast the two reproductive processes

Move on to the BioVenture page to continue this activity.
