8.04 Safari Quest Three—Amphibians

Time to Reflect

Amphibians live a double life. They spend the first stage of their lives as water animals. Then, they genetically transform into adult land animals. Life on land requires a lot of energy, and amphibians have adapted several mechanisms for getting the energy they need.

  • Amphibians have a three chambered heart.
  • Amphibians can get oxygen through both their lungs and their skin.
