5.04 Population Change: Field Excursion

Darwin’s voyage in the H. M. S. Beagle and his work on the Galapagos Islands provided the basis for many scientists work.  Darwin studied how things changed over time on the islands.  While we are passing by the different islands let’s take a look at some things that have been going on since Darwin’s time.

In this activity, you will:
  • reviewed factors that can effect populations and cause them to change over time
  • use the genus and species name for an organism to properly write a scientific name

The Honors student will:

  • identify phenotypes based on genotypes
  • predict and compare genotype frequencies over time
  • learn about the Hardy-Weinberg Equilibrium and how we can apply it to learn about populations
  • identify the conditions necessary to reach and maintain the Hardy—Weinberg Equilibrium

Let’s move on to the BioVenture tab we need your help with a special project that the field research scientists have been working on.
