7.07 Living with the Land

I can't believe it. It seems like you've only just gotten here. You're almost done with your research here at the the BioDome, and you really have helped us. This experiment has really been a success. I am going to make sure that we continue to work with BioVentures Unlimited in bringing interested guests to help with our research!

Before you take off, we do need help with one final project. We need to collect some data and evaluate the importance of plants to life here on earth. We need to make sure we don't miss anything, or we'll never succeed in our mission of establishing self-contained micro environments, like S.Mi.L.E. on a large scale.

To begin, let's consider three important terms and their relation to how plants are important.

Putting it all Together

Recall the question "What are some ways plants are a part of your every day life?" from earlier in the lesson? Now is your chance to answer it.

  1. Open and save the Living with the Land Activity Sheet.
  2. In the left column, list all the products essential to your life that come from agriculture, silviculture, and/or horticulture, and list other ways in which plants are essential to your life.
  3. In the right column, make a list of all the products you use that do NOT come from plants.
  4. Consider your list and write a paragraph or two that summarizes the role and importance of plants in your life.

You will submit this evaluation to your instructor for grading.

Continue to the Travel Log to submit the Living with the Land Activity Sheet.
