1.03 Travel Tips and Resources

In this activity you will:
  • investigate course resources
  • download multimedia plug-ins that are necessary for the course

You have made it to the final steps in preparing for the real fun! We have just a few more preliminary items to take care of and then it is off to adventure! We will actually be traveling to another world, so the planning is very important! We have a saying about planning; What? Ohhhh! Right we already told you the one about good planning being 90% of the trip. Okay, so how about this one?

"If you don't know what (or where) your resources are, how can you avoid the pot holes in the road and fix flat tires along the way?"

So we want you to take some time to do a little "in house" exploration and discover the resources that are available to you. Then we will do a final check to make sure that you have everything you need to succeed.

Course Information

To familiarize yourself with your resources, you will visit the Course Information area. During your exploration of this area, complete the following pre-tour activity. (Be diligent because you will make your first online report to the folks at BioVentures Research Department - the BVRD - shortly.)

  • Get out a sheet of paper or open a word processing document.
  • Find the Course Information area.
  • Look at the names of the menu buttons and other links in this area.
  • Write down the names of the course buttons and links.
  • Access each link and neatly record a description of the type of information you can find on that page. Also, include any information you may want to have on hand. For example, we think you can find the contact information for your tour leader (your instructor) in this area and that is always good information to have on hand.

If you ever get stuck, or need to know where to go for help, you can come back to these pages.

Move on to the BioVentures tab to continue this activity.
