Time to Reflect

Organisms in the Animal Kingdom can range from the simple sea sponge to the complex human. You might not think you have a lot in common with a sea sponge, but you really do!


All animals have the following characteristics:

  • multicellular
  • eukaryotic cells
  • have cells with no cell walls
  • heterotrophic
  • classified as either invertebrates or vertebrates

  • added the new terms and their meanings to your Module 8 Glossary Sheet
  • added your notes on the requirements for being classified as an animal in your Travel Log
  • have an understanding of the characteristics that divide the Animal Kingdom into its two main divisions
