I'm here to tell you that if you thought bacteria and viruses gave us a run for
our money here at the Triple T, well you've got another thing coming. As you've
seen in the pond water you collected and examined, there are organisms from the
Kingdom Protista in abundance. Well, they also exist in the soil and inside other
organisms. Many are parasitic—that is,
they need a host, or two, to complete their reproductive phase, and they make
their living by causing harm to their host organism.
|
In this activity, you will:
- recall that organisms in the Protist Kingdom can be beneficial and harmful
- investigate several parasitic or disease-causing protozoans and their effects on animals and humans
|
Just to get you thinking in the right direction, so to speak, see if you can classify the "actions" of protists into the Good and Bad categories. Shouldn't be too hard. Open the activity link and give it a try.

When you've got this down, move on over to the BioVenture tab for the rest of your activity.
