5.07 Honors: Next of Kin

The Honors student will:

  • identify the groupings within the taxonomic classification system
  • recognize the defining characteristics of each domain
  • categorize organisms according to the kingdom and phylum to which they belong
  • identify similarities and differences between taxonomic groups

Well, BioVenturers, the cruise is coming to an end. It's time to think about how you are going to organize things as you pack up that extra bag to take home with you. We've been talking a lot these past few days about how scientists organize things in a specific order for useful identification. In the end a well-organized system is the single best way to continue to move scientific research forward. One of your final activities is an exercise entitled Next of Kin. I'll let you guess what that is going to be about.
