7.04 Seeds and Fruits

Time to Reflect

Seed plants rely on various aspects of nature to help continue their species. They rely on agents of dispersal, such as wind, water, and many different kinds of animals to spread their seeds. If seeds were dropped by the parent plant at the site of production, the area would get overcrowded and there would not be enough water, nutrients, and light for them all to survive.

  • Fruits are special coverings that develop around seeds.
  • They protect the seeds and aid in the spreading of the seeds.
