7.02 Anatomy of a Plant

Time to Reflect

To be in the Plant Kingdom, an organism must meet certain criteria. It must have a eukaryote-type cell with a cell wall made up of the starch called cellulose. In addition, most plants have three basic parts—roots, stems, and leaves. Each of these parts has a special job to perform to help the plant survive.

  • Plant cells are similar to animal cells in that they are eukaryotic cells.
  • Plant cells have a few unique organelles like cell walls, large vacuoles and chloroplasts.
