Time to ReflectThe cell membrane functions to maintain homeostasis for the cell. It is composed mainly of fats and proteins that act as a chemical barrier between the inside and outside of the cell. Small molecules like water and oxygen can move in and out of the cell easily. The cell must use energy to move larger molecules like proteins and wastes.
