3.02 Honors -The Cell: Living Machines

The Honors student will:

  • research the structure and composition of monosaccharides, disaccharides, and polysaccharides
  • compare and contrast the properties of starch and cellulose and relate noted differences to structure

Hmm, what shall we have for dessert? I want something that is sweet to balance out the salty dressing from my salad. Sugar is sweet, sugar is nice, and sugar is simple energy for your cell's delight.

For this part of your exploration we are going to take a closer look at the molecular structure of carbohydrates (sugars). You will complete a SASinSchool Web Inquiry.

  • To begin, open and save the Carbohydrate Notes page.
IMPORTANT: You will use this page to respond. NOT the Respond page provided in the Web Inquiry.
  • Follow the directions below to access the activity.
  • When you arrive, launch the activity and follow the directions you are given there.
