5.00 Classification Cruise Adventure

Buon giorno and welcome aboard! I'm Antonio, your activities director. It's "Life Sciences" week on the cruise ship S.S. La Florida, and we have modified the entertainment and ports of call just for BioVentures. But don't worry, we will still go to exotic ports and eat world class cuisine. After all, this is a five-star luxury cruise. We have only altered the itinerary to meet your group's special needs. Oh, the delicious possibilities this trip offers! I can't wait to weigh anchor!

Come aboard, find your cabin, and get settled in. I'll meet you on the activities deck a bit later!

Second Segment Only Students: You need to take a short side trip before departing on your cruise. Review Lesson 1.01, Lesson 1.02, and Lesson 1.03. You will need to complete the following three tasks:

• Let your instructor know which pace you have chosen.
• Complete and submit your lab safety contract to your instructor.
• Download the necessary course resources.

Once you have reviewed these lessons and completed the three tasks above, it is important to return to Lesson 5.01 to continue your trip, as you can only receive credit for work completed in the Second Segment.

Lab Materials to obtain as you get started:

• In the 5.01 Fossils lesson, you will need a small package of Plaster of Paris. (You can find it in the arts section of department stores, like Wal-Mart and Target, or at any craft store.)
