7 Levels of Classification for Living Things

Living things are first placed into 1 of 6 Kingdoms. As the characteristics are observed and recorded, the organism will be classified into smaller and smaller groups from phylum down to species. A species is the most specific group a living thing can be classified into. To be classified as the same species, organisms must be able to interbreed successfully.
