Choosing Your Pace

There are three pace options: traditional, accelerated, and extended. Most students should choose the traditional pace unless they have special circumstances that will require them to take an extended schedule. Short descriptions of each pace are given below.

Note: Some students may need only one semester of credit. First semester only can use the first segment in the full year course. Second semester only has been separated out for you in the pace chart below:

Pace Here is an approximation of what you can expect at this pace:
Traditional Pace
Recommended for most students
2 semesters (36 weeks)
Complete approximately 3-5 assignments per week.
Each assignment requires approximately 1.5-2 hours.
Accelerated Pace
1 semester (18 weeks)
Complete approximately 5-7 assignments per week.
Each assignment requires approximately 1.5-2 hours.
*Be sure you have the time to commit for this schedule.
Second Segment Only Pace
Complete the course in 1 segment (18 weeks).
This is a traditional pace semester requiring approximately 3-5 assignments per week.
Each assignment requires approximately 1.5-2 hours.
This option is for students who are only seeking credit for the second segment and did not take the first segment online with this school.


Pace Charts

The Pace Chart is your key to

It is a weekly schedule of work to be submitted.

The Pace Charts for the accelerated, traditional, and second semester only are found in the Course Information area.

Your week one will begin the day of your activation. It is your responsibility to complete each week's work within the week that it is due. You are welcome to work ahead of pace, however do not skip around in the Pace Chart.

Note: There are opportunities for taking time off, but you must get prior approval from your instructor.

 


What to Do:

When you have had a chance to discuss your pace options with your parent(s) or guardian(s), please make a choice. Then go to the Course Information area, find the Pace Charts, open, and print a copy of the Pace Chart for your chosen pace.

Note: Traditional is the recommended pace for most students.
