Letter of Introduction - Example

Dear reader,

You are about to embark upon a journey. Within this portfolio I have created a variety of items in order to introduce you to my topic. Because I feel that poetry is an extremely important art form, and because I assume you could use some more exposure to poetry, I have delved into the world of poetry and returned with five genre pieces which I feel will help to explain poetry to you and further expose you to its wonders. Poetry is a way for people to speak their true inner feelings, or to disguise themselves behind masks of words. It tells the truth while lying. It reveals the world while covering it up. Poetry is a complex art and therefore I feel my portfolio is complex. After reading through my five genre pieces, I expect that you will understand more about poetry itself, as well as how poetry functions in society. Did you realize there was a National Poetry Month? If not, that is one of many things you probably didn't know about poetry. Hopefully I can help illuminate the world of poetry for you through my writing.

Inside, you will find five different items that I have created. I have researched poetry and learned as much as possible. Taking that information, I created five creative pieces of writing through which you can learn more about my topic. There is a poster, in which I promote National Poetry Month; an advice column for struggling poets, filled with suggestions for poems and poetry rules; a Power Point, in which I describe steps for writing an effective poem; a Time Line, which details important events in the world of poetry including the births, deaths, and publishing dates of famous poets; and Diary Entries that I wrote from the perspective of Emily Dickenson, so that you might have an idea of how the poetic mind works.

I hope you enjoy my portfolio and that you find something interesting within it. If you learn even one new thing about poetry, my job will be complete. Hopefully, you will find much more than you were looking for.

Sincerely,

Mr. Adams
