Re: Comparative Advantage

Comparative Advantage in this article is two people working together to gather as much food as they can to survive. Kate is the better fisherman so she can gather more fish than Sawyer who is better at gathering mangos. Kate and Sawyer then share their belongings and have equal amounts of food for survival. Sawyer has the advantage in mangos and Kate has the advantage in fish. With all of this, countries would be better off if they traded freely and used comparative advantage.

Comparative Advantage is two people working together. One person does what they are best at and the other person does what they are good at. Then the people share and they have the absolute greatest amount of the two things. In the article Kate has the advantage in fish and Sawyer has the advantage in mangos. Ricardo used that theory for international trade. One country specializes in a product and the other country specializes in another product. Then they barter and trade. The countries make money and everybody is better off.

There is never an insentive not to trade. If somone is better at making or collecting something then it makes sence to trade with someone who is better at collecting or making another object. In the article it talks about Katie and Sawyer collecting mangos and fish. Sawyer is faster at collecting magos than fish, while Katie is faster at catching fish over mangos. Therefore, Katie should catch the fish and Sawyer can collect the mangos and then they trade making everybody happy. This comparitive advantage in all this is that sawyer has the comparitive advantage in mangos while Katie has it in  fish.

Comparitive Advantages show that there is always a reason to trade. Because of opportunity costs, this article shows that by working together and trading they can acheive more goods. Sawyer has the comparitve advantage in mangoes and Kate has one in fish. If they work and specialize in one good then they can get more goods than they would if they were to work seperately.

for this article it shows that they would have more food if Kate fished and Sawyer got the mangos. they would lose production if they kept getting theresevles there own food. which means they will get less for both of the. if they use there time wisely and had the one with the better advantage of fishing and the one with the better advantage of retreving mangos then they would be better off. this fact also goes along with the countries theory that Sawyer has. if they specialize according to there comparative advantage and trade freely, everyone would be better off.

Comparative Advantage is when two people are working together to get things eachother need. Comparative advantage shows that there is always an incentive to trade. One person does something they are best at and so does the other. Then when you need that thing the other has and you have what the other needs, then you trade. If everyone could trade freely everyone would most cetainly be better off.

Comparative advantage is shown in the article between Kate and Sawyer who are stuck on a deserted island. Kate has an absolute advantage in gathering both fish and mangoes. Even though this is true, that does not mean that Kate should both catch fish and gather mangoes. Sawyer has the comparitive advantage in gathering mangoes. This is all about opportunity cost. Each of them should decided to trade; this would benefit that they would have more to eat, rather than both trying to do both activities. With this all being said, if countries were to use comparitive advantage and trade feely, everyone would be better off.

Comparitive Advantge is having Kate gather fish and Sawyer gather mangos for the day. They would both be able to trade and have more food for the day. This is a great oppurtunity cost here.

Comparative Advantage is defined as the ability of a party to produce a particular good or service at a lower marginal cost and opportunity cost over another. It is shown in our example as Kate having a lower opportunity cost in catching fish, while sawyer has the comparative advantage in mangoes. While Kate has the absolute advantage in both foods, if she specializes in fish and Sawyer specializes in mangoes, and they trade freely, everyone will be better off.

Comparative advantage is two people working together to gather as much food as they can to sustain life. Kate can gather more fish than Sawyer who is better at gathering fruit. Kate and Sawyer share the fish and mangoes to ensure that both of them have enough food. Kate has the advantage with fish, while Sawyer's advantage is the mangoes. Countries should use comparative advantage in their trading habits.

Emily,

This works for anything.  An advantage exists to trade for the item that you are least best at producing while using your available labor to produce the item(s) that you produce best.  This grows out of two theories production maximization and specialization.

Thank you for the response.
