Re: Solar

It depends on what solar panels you get for a 5 solar panel system it costs $8.00 per watts for 1.150 watts. Although for a 30 panel system it costs $5.00 per watt for 6.900 watts. Prices can get down as low as $3.00 per watt. If the company gives you a 60 month 0% intrest for a 4 panel system it would cost you $134 dollars per month. Although for a 20 panel it would cost about $500 dollars a month.

The cost for this may seem high, in the long run using solar panels is better and more efficient than using another type of energy source. $500 a month honestly is good for you in the long run because it will be like geting your money back with the energy that you have and dare using with the solar panels. To me, solar energy is the best thing you can do out of all of the ways of getting energy.

Solar power energy is the most expensive energy.  Solar power cost $0.22 per kWh. The other types of energy are way cheaper. The advantage of solar power is that it is clean energy, but it is way more expensive than other types of energies. It’s expensive to set up panels and it’s just expensive to use it.

Solar power is the most expensive type of energy to use compared to other types of energy. Hydroelectricity cost $0.03 per kwh. Nuclear energy and coal are tied at $0.04 oer kwh. Wind energy cost $0.08 per kwh. Natural gas cost $0.10 per kwh. Solar power is $0.22 per kwh. Obviously, solar power is well above the cost of the other energy sources. The advantage of solar energy is that it is a clean source of energy. The equipment to obtain solar energy can get quit pricey. If your looking for a clean energy that isnt so pricey it is probably best to look at hydroelectricity or wind energy.

Yes Kirsten, solar power does cost more but think about the long run. In the long run, if we all used solar power we could decrease the size of the hole in the ozone layer, and it costs less to use solar power in the long run. If we use other types of energy more, the long run for those is that we will end up spending more than if we use solar power. To me, its all about the long run and how it will turnn out in the future for us using solar power.

Re: Solar-amount of production

Over Fourth of July weekend solar power in California peaked 1,000 megwatts, which is the same capacity as if you were going to get energy from two large natural gas-fired plants. Friday, solar output was higher at 1,076 megawatts. Over the total course of the day about 8,500 megawatts hours was developed. Serving over 460,000 typical homes in the service area. In germany the world record was broke the next may with over 22,00 megawatts being produced towering over californias amount that they produced.

Yes, solar panels do cost a lot to set up but just think about how long they last. We will never run out of sunlight, and we will not have to replace solar panels unless a major disaster happens. Your typical solar panels have a high efficiency even being just the 5 panels.

The ones you by for your rooftop have an efficiency of 15 to 18%. Your solar panels on the satalites that will last a life time have an efficiency of over 50%. The cost of setting up and constructing a solar panel may be on the high end but, it lasts a life time and you will not have to replace anything on it or even replace it unless of a major disaster.

With other sources of energy, you always end up having to replace a turbine (wind energy) or you end up having to shut down a whole plant where the energy is made (nuclear energy). Yes, natural and unnatrual disasters happen to where things have to be replaced. But we will never run out of sunlight and even with the medium efficiency, you can have great power for a cheaper cost in the long run.

Honestly, my point of veiw on solar energy is that i prefer to have solar, clean energy than that of the energy now. I do not have a problem with other types of energy like wind and natural energy all around. Yes, all energy is natural but the energy that is the best is the energy that does not put out pollutants and that does not create bigger and bigger holes in the ozone layer every year.
